PowerBuilder gets "Merit" award from Visual Studio Magazine readers!

Visual Studio Magazine

The Redmond based VisualStudio Magazine (http://visualstudiomagazine.com) recently held a reader's award for over 400 products and services that are available for the Net world. I am very pleased to report that Sybase's PowerBuilder RAD .net development tool version 11.2 was chosen for the merit award in the "Software Design, Frameworks and Modelling Tools" category. I personally think that this award demonstrates how far Sybase has brought their PowerBuilder product back to the attention of the serious developer .

Not only does this award demonstrate a critical technology change and commitment by Sybase, but the actual VSM readers choosing PowerBuilder for this nomination have clearly demonstrated that the product is back on-the-radar of the .Net developer! It is no wonder why since PB 11.x has clearly offered new Winform, WebForm, Assembly, WebService, Ajax, etc .Net functionality that makes this product a serious contender for application development in Microsoft's new realm. Couple this with the transition of PowerBuilder's exceptional DataWindow technology to DW.net incorporated into the PowerBuilder product and you can see the exponential productivity possibilities unfold!

You can view the actual Reader Choice Awards and see the PowerBuilder nomination by following this link (click here). Sybase have also released a Press Release on this award which can be viewed on their web site. PowerBuilder developers should also take note that this is only the tip-of-the-iceberg as Sybase gears up to release version 12.0 of PowerBuilder next year based on the .Net developers shell. This will allow PB to gain further access to any .Net feature and further propel the product (in my opinion) into clearly being the best RAD .Net development tool out there!

Regards ... Chris
